If you think that it’s tricky to get your nail size right, you’re not alone. In fact, the complexities of figuring out the right shape and size is what deters most people from ordering press-on nail sets. The process of finding your right nail shape and size requires knowing some simple things. Some of these you might already have heard but struggled to believe, others are lesser known industry tips that nail techs know but don’t tell. Here at LUNA LAB, I want to set your press-on nails journey up for success, and so here is my guaranteed game changing approach to sizing your nails:

Use this nail size kit for reference:

Find the number that fits your index finger

Did you know that your index and ring finger are often the same size? (Note: This usually applies to women.) 

If yours are roughly the same length, measure your index finger nail size first and apply the same to your ring finger. 

Go one size up for your middle finger 

It’s usually safe to assume that your middle finger will be one size larger than your index or ring finger, given that it is slightly longer and typically a bit wider at the base.

Thumb and pinky are usually unique

The thumb and pinky finger sizes are almost always unique to themselves and tend to be the easiest to measure accurately. 

When in doubt, size up

You can always file and buff your nails to shape them how you want, but you can’t add more material to an already small nail. Sizing up helps eliminate risk, ensuring that your press-on nails can be adjusted to your right size if needed.
